PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 2026-10-22
This Privacy Policy explains how the Android app Unfold (package com.cmart.unfold, “Unfold”, “we”,
“us”) handles data. In short: Unfold has no account and no own server. Screen content never leaves your phone.
The only data we receive are crash and error reports without personal data.
1. Controller / Contact
Controller: Christoph Martin
Address: Fischerweg 8, 7503 Großpetersdorf, Austria
Email: info@endure-cycling.com
2. Accessibility service and screen content
Unfold uses an Android accessibility service to draw the fold transition on top of the screen when you open or close your phone. This is the only purpose of the service. It does not help users with disabilities and is not declared as an accessibility tool.
- When a transition starts, the service takes a snapshot of the current screen and folds it. The snapshot exists only in memory for the length of that one transition (about half a second). It is never saved, logged, analysed or sent anywhere.
- On the lock screen and for apps that block screenshots, no snapshot is taken; the effect runs on a neutral surface instead.
- The service does not read text, does not record what you type, does not record which apps you use and does not perform actions on your behalf. It only looks up the position of the top window so the snapshot covers the right area.
- You enable the service yourself in the Android settings after Unfold explains what it does, and you can turn it off there at any time.
3. Data stored on your phone
- Your settings (effect on/off, direction, fine-tuning, device profile) and onboarding progress
- The start date of your 3-day trial
- Whether you own the Lifetime Unlock (a cache of what Google Play reports)
- Hinge sensor and display measurements for your phone model
These data stay on the device. If Android backup is enabled on your phone, Google may include the settings, the trial start and the purchase cache in your device backup under Google's terms; device-specific measurements are excluded.
The trial start date is also saved in Google Play services Block Store, so that a reinstall does not restart the trial. Block Store keeps this single date on your Google account's device backup, end-to-end encrypted where your device supports it. It is not linked to your identity by us, and we cannot read it.
4. Crash and error reports (Sentry)
When Unfold crashes, freezes (ANR) or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA) so we can fix the problem. A report contains:
- Stack trace and error message
- App version, Android version, device maker and model, hinge sensor type
- A random installation ID and session health (whether a session ended in a crash)
Reports never contain screenshots, screen content, session replays, the names of apps you use, your name, email address or any other personal data; Unfold removes such fields before sending. Like any server, Sentry sees the IP address of the connection that delivers a report. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working app (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Reports are kept for up to 90 days.
5. Purchases (Google Play)
The Lifetime Unlock is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. Unfold only receives from Google Play whether you own the product and the purchase confirmation needed to unlock it. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details.
6. Notifications
If you allow notifications, Unfold reminds you two days before and on the day your trial ends. The reminders are scheduled on the phone; no push service or server is involved.
7. What we do not do
- No account, no login, no own server
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking SDKs
- No sale or sharing of data with third parties for their own purposes
- No collection of location, contacts, photos, messages or other personal content
8. International transfers
Sentry may process crash reports in the United States. Where required, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and Sentry's data processing agreement.
9. Your rights (EEA/UK/Switzerland)
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Austria: Datenschutzbehörde, dsb.gv.at). Because crash reports carry no personal identifiers, we usually cannot link a report to you; tell us your device model and the approximate time of a crash and we will search for it. Contact: info@endure-cycling.com.
Deleting data: uninstalling Unfold removes all data stored on the phone. To also remove the trial date from Block Store, clear Unfold's data in the Android settings before uninstalling, or remove the app's backup in your Google account. Crash reports expire automatically after 90 days, or earlier on request.
10. This website
The Unfold pages on endure-cycling.com set no cookies and load no analytics. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA), which processes your IP address to deliver the pages.
11. Children
Unfold is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version.
